There's a bluebird in my heart that
wants to get out
but I'm too clever, I only let him out
at night sometimes
when everybody's asleep.
I say, I know that you're there,
so don't be
sad.
then I put him back,
but he's singing a little
in there, I haven't quite let him die
and we sleep together like
that
with our
secret pact
and it's nice enough to
make a man
weep, but I don't
weep, do
you?
(Charles Bukowski, "the bluebird")
A long time in coming, a new pattern inspired by my Dud, and brought to you with special thanks to Kate, who knit the brown Bluebird pictured in the pattern, Lorna's Laces, who provided the Fisherman and Shepherd Sport yarns for Kate's sample, and Lil' Sis Beth "Other Weaverknits" for creating the Weaverknits logo and Bluebird schematic.
Designed to fit 34 to 58 inch chests; finished chest sizes 37.5 (42.75, 46, 48, 52, 56, 60) inches. Skills needed? A bit of intarsia, cable pattern, seaming and finishing skills.

Oo, it's lovely.
i love this.
Wonderful. Also, the hair color and new tattoo are pretty wonderful too!
Oh, so lovely! Kind of eerie, too - I've been batting around around bird-related pattern ideas, as well.
Oh, it's wonderful! And Charles Bukowski, too!
Does the pattern work for women, too, or is it a man's sweater design only?
Wonderful! :)
Artsy Reader, I am knitting it for my female self--almost 1/2 through. So far, so good!
Dud looks so happy. I love the placement of the bluebird, it seems like a tattoo.
