J O B! JOB!!! JOB!!!

Weaverknits is now the proud owner of a shiny new full-time job baking bread during an early morning shift at a Cambridge bakery, where everything is made from scratch. The loaf on the right is from my new job; the loaf on the left is one of my traditional Bread for the People loaves.

No more working for morally revolting boss men! No more cubicle! No more dress code! No more condescension! Don't worry, though, I'm still getting all that retroactive Unemployment pay after my hearing wraps up on May 19. Oh yes.

I start May 11. For 2-3 months my shifts will be 3 am to 11 am. Pray for me.

Knitting soon. Love, Ann

This sounds lovely.
I find baking very Zen, myself.

I'm so happy for you (and a teensy bit jealous, cause I still work for morally revolting and condescending men in a soul-less cubicle).

3 am though? Yikes. Better start going to bed early, my dear.

I'm super excited for you! Being able to get out of the corporate-cubicle-reprehensible-bullshit is such a big thing. I thought the world had ended when i lost my desk-job, and it was hard to get by with a paltry unemployment payout, but just a few months later i landed a fantastic job at a Yarn Store, and it's more than i could ever have hoped for.

The long and short is CONGRATULATIONS! You'll be fab!

That sounds awesome! Your breads are beautiful and you're going to smell so nice too!
My mom has been working a 3am shift for the past 6 months at her job (except she has to stay till 2:30pm, yikes!) and she really likes it. You have to go to bed early but you have the whole afternoon of sunshine to enjoy! Um... If it's sunny where you live.
I hope it is!

Congratulations! I must say I'm a bit jealous you get to bake breads.
But the 3 am shift sounds hard.
Good luck to you!

So happy for you. The baking of bread goes back to the roots of civilization and you are in great company. 3am yikes.

YAY! Congrats!

CONGRATULATIONS! I did the early shift in a bakery for a while, and I could get into it. I'm much more up for baking bread at 4am than dealing with customers at 8am, so hopefully you're the same. So glad you found a paying situation about which you're happier.

YAY! What a great turn of events. I have loved baking bread all winter, and what a wonderful and creative thing for a knitter & designer to be doing....even in the middle of the night/godless hours of the morning.

Good luck!

This new job sounds much more conducive to your creativity. And more power to you if you can get to work by 3 a.m. Just wait until you get that check for all the back due unemployment!

Good for you, Ann! Want to send som of that delicious-looking bread my way? But 3 am? Yegads. It could be a wonderful time to work, though... the peace, the quiet, working with your hands to create something nourishing. It's sounding better and better the more I think about it!

Congratulations! And good luck on your hearing.

Yay and double YAY... knitting and baking seem to have a similar comfort quotient... just have to be careful keeping the fibers and dough separate!

Congratulations!!! The hours sound brutal. Any chance you'll be up late enough to go to the Common Cod meeting tomorrow? I plan on being there.
