No, no, I mean the "other" 9 to 5. I'm working three overnight shifts a week now, primarily baking hundreds of baguettes and ciabatta rolls, small loaves, medium loaves, huge loaves.
Working nights leaves me the days free to be outside in the sun with the cats (who are now behaving more like cats and less like two huge furry white paperweights). Outside makes writing and grading patterns more pleasant.
GO DUTCH is now complete. A hint: Here are some of the swatches. But the final pattern is SO MUCH COOLER. I may wait until fall to release this pattern. Or I may not. Do people want mitten patterns now that it's sunny out?
Hope the weather has improved for you as well... I've been reading the blogs of all you northeasterners...

Wow, I can't believe you finished Go Dutch so quickly! I can't wait to see it. I think people are still in the mitten mood, and the added Olympic excitement will also help, but I am also just impatient to see it :) I am jealous of your day knitting, but not so much of the overnight shifts, although I imagine it might be quite peaceful to be baking bread in the middle of the night? I would definitely be blasting the tunes and holding a dance party.
Well here in San Francisco, summer is the coldest of times so a mitten pattern would be most welcome.
Yay for bread btw!
Hey! I've been following your blog for a year or so now, maybe two years. Let me first say that I think you are amazing and so is your sense of style. I just bought these boots and I immediately thought of you when I got them in the mail today.
They're Palladium baggy canvas boots. I got mine on ebay in a discontinued color (burgundy) but they have them in a mustard color...

by the way I love your work.
Loving the bits of sunshine we're getting in the Northeast, even if spring does seem a bit early. Can't wait to see Go Dutch. I knit mittens all year long, but I might be an exception.
I love your cats!
The black and white is excellent. Can't wait to see the entire thing, if the swatches look that good.
If indeed I classify as a northeasterner, then I would have to agree that the weather is better. It's that odd spring-but-not-yet thing going on.
I worked the graveyard for a couple of weeks. It was kind of funky, but I did enjoy spending my days at the beach while most other folks were at work.
As excited as I am about the mittens, they may make more of a splace if you wait until the end of summer to release the pattern. It would be a shame if they were lost among the shawlettes and cotton tanks of summer.
